Hinkleman was born in upstate New York, working locally and staying in New York and New Jersey for her career. Her work consisted of painting and illustrating, although she seemed to be most connected to her teaching position. She has been noted as anatomical illustrator for Albany hospital and Medical College. She was also referenced in Who Was Who in American Art, 1564-1975: Three Volumes, edited by Peter Hastings Falk, 1999.
