Eaton was a tonalist, lived in Bloomfield, NJ and maintained a studio in New York City,
He was influenced by George Inness and painted with J.Carroll Beckwith at the Arts Students League as well as with Leonard Ochtman, and Ben Foster
He traveled to France and England to paint with his artists friends.
He won many art prizes including at the Salmagundi Club , The Philadelphia Art Club, and at the 1904 St. Louis Exposition
He didn't paint for the last 10 years of his life and died i n 1937
