Art Restoration and Conservation
Restoration has been a Family Tradition since 1926 when Serge Liros' father Lucas Akliros started cleaning his own old master paintings. Later his wife helped him with the restoration by touching up damaged areas. Their son, Serge Liros, gained further restoration expertise at the Doerner Institute in Munich. Serge learned the intricacies of frame restoration including gilding, rebuilding damaged areas, replacing missing portions and toning from his uncle, Nicholas Akliros, in Berlin, Germany.
Art conservation, repairing paintings and frames, as well as archival conservation of art (including paintings, frames, gold leafing, old print cleaning) is all part of the service provided by Liros Gallery.
We provide service in the state of Maine and surrounding New England states, and have clients nationally and internationally. We also service commercial businesses and museums. The restoration process involves apply new canvases to damaged paintings (called relining), in-painting of missing paint, repairing of holes; and removal of old varnish and dirt from paintings.
All restoration is done on the premises under the supervision of Serge Liros. For free estimates and appointments call Liros Gallery at 207.374.5370 or email at liros@lirosgallery.com
