About.

Liros Gallery is a multigenerational family business dedicated to quality and tradition for over 74 years.

Internationally recognized as specialists in fine paintings and Russian Icons. Our collection represents a wide variety of 19th and 20th century American and European Art, including old prints and maps, etchings, oriental prints, and watercolors.

We offer a large selection of custom picture framing services in classic and modern styles.

The extensive range of gallery services offered on the premises include custom framing, art and frame restoration and conservation, and art appraisal.

Our History

Liros Gallery was first established in 1926 by Serge Liros' father, Lucas Akliros, in Berlin. Renowned for his expertise in old master paintings, his clientele included museums and fine collectors. After World War II, the gallery moved to Athens. In 1949, Liros Gallery was established in New York City, then relocated again to Otto Strasse 3A, Munich, Germany in 1955. After the death of Lucas Akliros in 1958, his wife Valentine Liros continued the tradition until 1963 when son, Serge Liros, took over the art business and moved the gallery to Alexandria, Virginia and then to Blue Hill, Maine in 1986.

Our Goal

We always aim to give the best quality of service to our customers. With technological advances, many businesses like are own are transitioning to online platforms. For anyone visiting our gallery, we offer a personable experience, take great care in choosing the best framing options for you, and offer you a guarantee any artwork we've obtained is authentic. Artwork has a story to tell and gives it meaning. We seek to tell those stories, and hope our customers leave with a greater appreciation for artwork than they did walking in.
